Supporting Seniors since 1995
Doncare’s Social Support for Seniors Program supports older people living independently to stay socially connected, active and engaged with their community. Our program is designed for seniors who are, or may be at risk of, social isolation or loneliness, and who would benefit from regular social connection in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Our Social Support Groups are subsidised by the Australian Government through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). Referrals are received via My Aged Care. To find out more or request an assessment by visiting myagedcare.gov.au or call 1800 200 422.
We provide a range of small, facilitated group activities, tailored to suit different interests, abilities and comfort levels. Activities include facilitated social groups, walking groups, lunch gatherings, movie sessions and community outings using our minibus. All activities take place in accessible community venues and are supported by trained volunteers and staff.
We take time to get to know each participant. Before joining a group, you’ll meet individually with one of our friendly team members so we can learn about your interests and preferences, discuss any support needs and identify the group that feels like the best fit for you. Getting There Safely and Comfortably
Door-to-door transport is available, provided by Doncare volunteers and staff to support participants to attend activities with ease, safety and comfort.
Costs & Contributions
We aim to keep our programs accessible, with clear and upfront costs for all activities. Lunch venues are carefully selected, offering reasonably priced options and seniors menus wherever possible.
A small contribution helps keep activities accessible, with $8 for lunch, movie and walking groups, and $12 for minibus outings.
If you receive Commonwealth Support at Home funding, Doncare will charge your service provider $90 per activity. Participants can also attend through a private arrangement at $90.00 per activity
Costs may vary depending on the activity and you will always be advised of any costs in advance.
