During this time, Rosie Batty’s national advocacy brought unprecedented attention to the issue, aligning closely with Doncare’s frontline work in the community.
Since 2015, this alignment has elevated the importance of integrated, community-based responses — combining advocacy, support services and prevention to create meaningful and lasting change.
Through her courage and determination, she has transformed personal tragedy into national action. Her commitment to safety, dignity and recovery reflects our shared mission to support women, children and families to rebuild their lives.

Rosie’s story continues to inspire hope, resilience and action. Through her advocacy, she has helped reshape how Australia responds to domestic violence — and continues to empower others to find their voice. Rosie continues to champion Doncare's Family Violence Recovery services including the DAWN Mentoring program, helping elevate the importance of long-term recovery, not just crisis response.
Rosie’s 11-year-old son, Luke, is killed by his father. Yet, in the face of unimaginable grief, Rosie speaks publicly, bringing national attention to domestic violence.
