Anna wanted support to recover from trauma and rebuild her life. Instead, she found herself caught between services—a situation becoming increasingly common in our community.
Every day, people in our community reach out for help. They are experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, family violence, grief, financial stress, housing insecurity, or a combination of challenges that no single service can address alone. Many are highly motivated to seek support. Yet they find themselves trapped in a gap between systems. They are unable to afford private psychology. They don't meet eligibility criteria for government-funded specialist services. Community counselling programs are often not resourced to provide the level of clinical support they require. As a result, people who desperately want help are left without it.
Bendigo Bank's Templestowe Village and Doncaster East Community Bank branches have invested $100,000 towards establishing this innovative service.
Rotary Manningham City have committed $30,000 over the next 3 years
Private donors have already contributed $12,500, helping lay the foundations for a new model of integrated mental health care.
Help Bridge the Gap. Join us in building a new model of integrated mental health care.
People are increasingly experiencing multiple challenges at once, including trauma, anxiety, substance use, financial hardship and housing stress. Existing services are not always equipped to respond to this complexity.
Mental health care is frequently delivered in isolation from the practical supports people need. Challenges such as financial stress, food insecurity and housing instability can undermine recovery.
CARE Psychology Connected. Accessible. Affordable. Responsive. Equitable.
Doncare is establishing a trauma-informed psychology service integrated within our existing counselling and community support programs. This new model of care recognises that mental health recovery is influenced by much more than therapy alone. Clients will have access to clinical psychological care alongside practical supports including: Family violence recovery programs Counselling services Case management and advocacy Emergency relief and practical assistance Social support and community connection programs Referrals to specialist services when required Instead of moving between disconnected services, people will experience coordinated, person-centred care designed around their individual needs. For people like Anna, this means receiving the right support, at the right time, in one connected system.
