Position Statement

Be part of a fun and friendly team that provides an essential service to the Doncare's op shops. 

Responsibilities 

Based at the Macedon Road warehouse, this position involves:

  • driving the op shop van

  • collecting donated items (including furniture) and delivering it to the three op shops in Templestowe Village, Tunstall Square and Macedon Square

  • transporting donated items between people’s homes, the warehouse and the shops

  • tag and testing electrical items

  • metal recycling

Key Selection Criteria 

Previous experience working as a volunteer in an Opportunity Shop or retail environment (advantageous but not essential) 

  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team 

  • Able to demonstrate self-motivation, attention to detail, adaptability, honesty, integrity, reliability & punctuality 

  • Physical fitness to perform tasks- capable of moving furniture and packages (<25kg) 

  • Good communication skills

    Conditions of Employment 

    Your offer of appointment at Doncare is subject to: 

    • a six-month probationary period
    • a satisfactory Criminal History Check (renewed every three years) 

    • a Working with Children’s Check prior to commencement.  Doncare has a legal and moral responsibility to ensure the safety of all children in accordance with the Child Safe Standards and expects all staff and volunteers to commit to this standard and understand their duty of care obligations. 

    • Preferred candidates will be required to provide two referees

    • A current Driver’s License, (special licence not required) and sound driving history

    • Qualifications and credentials completed and verified 

    • Ensure compliance with the OH&S Act and Doncare policies

    • Contribute positively and proactively to team and organisation wide OH&S activities 

    • Ensure compliance with legislation, contract and policy requirements in your work to meet organisational audit, contract, and registration obligations
