Message From the CEO
Doncare is a
very exciting place to be, the
very heartbeat of Doncare is the
services we provide to our
community on a daily basis, our
dedicated staff and volunteers
all of whom share compassion for
their community, many of whom
are our most vulnerable, fragile
and disadvantaged.
The majority
of Doncare services are
delivered by our volunteers,
they are our most valuable asset
and the life blood of the
organisation. Volunteers work in
all of our programs, in all
of our Opportunity Shops and on our Board of
Management - without them Doncare
would not exist.
The services we provide often go to
the heart of people’s lives; we provide to the most
vulnerable, disadvantaged and fragile, and work to
improve their quality of life. We know just how
important these services are in supporting our clients
to participate more fully in the social, recreational
and connectedness to their community.
We constantly seek to improve the
ways in which we operate to better meet the changing
needs and service gaps for our clients, to prepare for
the future and to build our capacity to better manage
and deliver services. One of the biggest challenges is
to manage all of this within budget and determining what
can and cannot be sustained. All of those involved with
Doncare can be proud of the achievements to date,
responding to community needs, delivering high quality
services and working in partnership with other agencies
and levels of government.
We have spent a great deal of time
over the past year meeting with council staff and
architects to discuss the Civic Precinct Hub, and the
space that Doncare will inhabit as our new home. We are
very excited about moving into the new building and
being part of a group of similar agencies who will be
working together to best serve the Manningham community.
Thank you to Manningham Council for having the vision to
establish the Civic Precinct Community Hub.
As CEO, I would
like to thank our major donors
and funding bodies: Manningham
City Council, Department of
Human Services, Commonwealth
Department of Family and
Community Services, the
Philanthropic Trusts and
Foundations, and all
other donors to Doncare.
Finally I would like to
sincerely thank the Doncare
Board, Volunteers, Managers and
Staff who by working together
every day make a difference
to
the lives of others.
